Spiriteers 100 Days Food Drive

All nonperishable food donations will be donated to P2P Food Pantry at Person-to-Person, Darien. The P2P Food Pantry is an emergency service that provides 7 days of groceries for families from Stamford, Darien, and New Canaan who are in great need. How can Hindley School help? In honor of the 100th Day of School, we are asking Hindley families to help the P2P Food Pantry to stock their shelves with 100 of each of the items listed below:

  • Kindergarten & First Grade: Cookies & Crackers
  • Second & Third Grades: Macaroni & Cheese, Pasta & Spaghetti Sauce
  • Fourth & Fifth Grades: Hearty Soups & Oatmeal

All food donations should be dropped off in the crates located near Mrs. Turschmann’s classroom. Thank you!

Kids Care Club Book Drive

Please help provide books for children in need. Through Februrary 5th, the Kids Care Club is collecting new and gently used books for two area shelters. Board books for ages 0-4 will be given to Inspirica in Stamford. Inspirica will use the books to entertain children while their parents are given classes on how to properly care for their children. Books for grades K-5 will be given to the lending library at the Open Door Shelter in Norwalk. Many of these children do not have any books of their own, and our donations will be greatly appreciated! Please leave the books in the school entranceway. If you have many books to donate, you can arrange for them to be picked up by contacting Michele Treacy.  If you have any questions, please contact Michele Treacy, Christine Harris, Sarah True, or Jennifer Ward.

Silent Auction Parking Spot

To my dear Hindley Parents,

Please be reminded of the many creative ways that have been created and implemented to maintain and continue to keep our school community robust, engaged and connected. One way is the reserved parking space for the Hindley Happening Silent Auction winner. This “hallowed” space is dedicated each month to the highest bidder of this popular auction “item.” (Click here to see the list of parking spot winners from the last Hindley Happening.)

I would like to encourage you to please recognize and respect this space for the winner of the month. It becomes quite disconcerting when the space is unavailable or blocked off by a vehicle making it impossible to use.

I trust that the Hindley community will be sensitive to the designated parking space and continue to value the special ways, i.e. a parking space for the monthly auction winner, and other special protocols that make Hindley the very special school it is!

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Best regards,
Rita M. Ferri
